Ryan Gershman’s focus at Gershman Partners is leading development efforts around Indiana and the Midwest. Among his projects was the development and leasing of The Bridges of Carmel, which is anchored by a Giant Eagle Market District grocery, and a downtown Indianapolis mixed-use apartment and retail project that features Shake Shack and Sweetgreen. His current focus is leading Gershman Partners’ industrial development efforts and other large land-assemblage projects throughout Indiana and the Midwest. “I do what I do,” he said, “because I get to invest in communities, help create jobs and build lasting value.”
After graduating from the University of Michigan, Gershman joined Gershman Brown Crowley Inc., which sent him to Boston to develop stores for CVS Pharmacy all over New England. In 2013, he and his wife (fiancée at the time) moved back to Indianapolis to help form Gershman Partners — a 100% family-owned business — with his brothers, Eric and Brad, and father, Jerry.
FIRST JOB: Working as a construction laborer for Indianapolis builder Aaron Cohen. He helped build Christel DeHaan’s (now retailer RH’s) wall along Michigan Road.

INFLUENTIAL MOMENT: Completing construction of an advanced manufacturing facility for Alfa Laval at the County Line Commerce project in Indianapolis, a 2 million-square-foot,$300-million-plus master-planned business park at County Line and Arlington roads. “That was proof that hard work pays off. County Line Commerce started as an idea four years ago. To see it come to life in the form of an advanced manufacturing facility for a global company that creates jobs and [a] meaningful tax base for the community is extremely rewarding and validating.”
ADVICE: “Be patient. Things take time and persistence. If something is working, do more of it. If it is not, move on and nd something that does.”•
